Outdoor sports and activities are the main subjects of Roman´s work. Even whilst studying his degree in geography he started to work as a travel photographer, "I don´t know what was there first, the appeal of being outdoors or the attraction for outdoor photography. In any case as long as I can remember, being outdoors and the fascination of nature has been what challenges me. I do not hide behind artificial light and fancy camera techniques. In my own style of photography I rely on simplistic camera usage, as well as a lot of patience and optimism. In return, for a certain amount of sacrifice, I get the chance to take what I call in my own opinion a "true image". An image, which makes the observer acknowledge that it is truly a very special moment."
Roman´s subject matter consists of outdoor sports, outdoor fashion, travel and nature. These subjects are produced as single shots, documentaries and also in large orchestrated photo shoots. Frequently within these he shows, what is important to him as an enthusiastic outdoors sportsman: people interacting with one another and interacting with nature. Therefore he chooses panoramic photography, using this format he can express extremely well the vastness and natural lighting of these scenes. He likes to work internationally for example in Iceland and the New England States just as much as working at home on the The Swabian (Alb) Mountains. Several media and well known companies like Adidas, Bosch, Jack Wolfskin or Globetrotter Equipemt are taking advantage of his versatility.
