Dirk Schröder Photographer and Writer
Images Portrait
Dirk is our specialist for shamanism, tracking, igloos, Fire-walking - practically everything close to nature. He documents these adventures and countries, from nordic adventures to the life of a camel in Egypt. Additional special subjects are cultures, tribal living and outdoor activities such as diverse winter sports, hiking and climbing.
The journalist about his work:
"I was born 1954 in Westphalia, but for many years the wonderful Chiemgau has been my home of choice.
Since 1980 I have been working as a freelance travel journalist and photographer. More than a dozen travel guides about Scandinavia, France, Luxemburg and former Yugoslavia contain my work.
In addition, numerous reports have been published in magazines like Stern, Abenteuer & Reisen, Tours, Outdoor and many more.
I'm very fond of adventure and "action" tours, such as canoeing in Canada, motorcycling across Africa, moutaineering and glacier tours, etc. In Winter I love to ski or trek by snowshoe. Of course I don't mind sleeping outside in a sleeping bag or bivouac under a starry sky and spending nights in a tent with winter storms blowing outside.
The more remote and exciting, the better.
I am also a hang-gliding and paragliding pilot. The only things I don't feel very comfortable on, are ships.
Experiencing other cultures is something that I appreciate a lot, whether staying with nomads in the desert, joining Indians like Wounded Knee on a spiritual ride on horseback, or tracking wolfes in Estonia - I'm always close to the event with my camera. My empathy and respect for people and the lives they live has often opened doors to me."
