Susanne Sölter   Author

Portrait

Susanne Sölter is perhaps entirely self-taught - trying and testing things out and changing her path are a part of her life, brought about wholly due to her own diversity as a person; the constants in her life being improvisation and language. As the third child of a Philologist in Copenhagen, her everyday home life was made sweeter with a kind of word play, in German and as well as in Danish.

But a lack of direction, a zigzag path through life and two years as a drop-out living in Greece, brought about Susanne's her first realization of which direction she should take. The sun rises in the East; ancient Greek is the basis for knowledge and learning; and reducing life to its basic fundamental concepts and a lust for life belong together. With her eyes now wide open, Susanne went back to where she was born, in Hamburg. The only repetition in her life; from where she once left she remained until the birth of her daughter: In the weird world of the music industry, this time round within the public relations field.

She then decided to experiment as a freelancer, also in public relations, within the artists' network and also with writing and event s. Her portraits, artist biographies, reviews, reports, travel reports and her local studies have been published throughout the media. The overriding feeling of her work can be summed up with the title, 'connection of people', an overview and an impression. Whether in Greece or in a large German city, she finds each tiny micro cosmos charming. They are chasms - which are a challenge for an ironic and distant picture. The sharp tongued writing of a satiric magazine article is well known. However, this sarcasm derives not only from the ancient Greeks, but can also sometimes be dictated to you.

In the mean time she has also pursued other goals. Paper objects origined from collections of paper and rubbish. This has led to the creation of her workshop for words, objects and paper, which is called 'texture'.
