"After my apprenticeship as an electrician, I began my first extensive tours through Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America. I soon left the job I had and concentrated on what I had gained from my travels. Besides my slide shows I have written books and reports about the regions I have travelled to.
It all started with an allure for mountaineering, extreme kayaking and extensive expeditions, and developed into substantial interest in people and cultures.
My special subjects are the Himalaya region, Mongolia, Patagonia and the river Yukon.
I travel like the locals do, using a canoe, horse or dogsled in order to get in touch with local people. I have a good relationship with the Nomads, Tuva, Gauchos and Indians."
